SIN SHALL NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU

                                                       Anne Adams -Heritage Baptist Church

Like the name of this blog- Dominion is more than God giving us rule over the animals & the earth. God gave us the power to have victory in this life.

He said SIN SHALL NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

How can we overcome sin? We can replace it with something else

Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

How do we become righteous?

Where does it tell you what righteousness is?

God’s Word

We need to fill our minds with God’s Word! learn it, memorize it and use it for ammo against the devil.  satan has no power, NONE over us once we are saved.

God’s word keeps us from sin in our actions, because it defines for us what is evil and what is good.  How will I know what grieves God and brings Him shame, except that His word tells me?

 Scripture is filled with instruction.

God Word → a handbook for humans!!   *Follow the instructions*

Sin occurs in us in 2 ways-  in our thoughts, and in our actions. We can hide sin from others but God knows each thing we do & the thoughts & intents of our heart.

GOD LOVES YOU & PRAYS FOR YOU. He wants you to have victory over sin. He knows you & understands you- because HE MADE YOU!  Don’t hide sin, ask for help if you are having trouble overcoming sin on your own. Satan wants you to hide and feel defeated. We all struggle with things that do not please the Lord. We need to tell each other in order for others to pray for us. Jesus took our shame & has paid the price for it. Do not let Satan make you hide your sin and hold on to it. We need to be humble & truthful if we are going to overcome sin.

Don’t take sin lightly- Jesus paid a high price for you

Psalms 19:13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Sin causes shame to be cast on our Savior, as we represent Him to an unbelieving world.

Sin disqualifies us from serving God in ways that He would desire to use us.

Sin brings pain and difficulty into our life.

Sin hurts others, as our selfishness spills into the lives of those we love.

Sin grieves the heart of God.

If God has given us the “answer” to keep us from sin, we should run to it and cling to it with everything we have!

1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

God’s word is your escape!! You just have to Choose to use it!

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We know sin grieves the heart of God because we feel it in our spirit when we sin, the disappointment & shame. Jesus paid a high price for us. Why would we want to hurt him?

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

God’s love for you dying on the cross

2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Don’t ever think the Bible is a bunch of rules. If you live by the letter of the law…it killeth… it does not bring you joy. Live by the spirit and out of love for what Christ has done for us. People will be drawn to you & to Christ through his spirit of love in you.

Victory

Let us love & praise God for his provision of not only salvation, but that through righteous living we can have JOY & PEACE because we

CAN HAVE VICTORY OVER SIN through Christ & HIS WORD!

Trials- we Grow

 Trials, we grow?

Yes, absolutely. My family and I watch DVD's and one of the main ones is Andy Griffith. In one of the episodes Andy's friend Barney said when talking about life trials, "I wouldn't trade those rough spots for all the money in the world, because each one has added a muscle to my emotional constitution." And when you think a minute about it, it makes a lot of sense. Each and every thing God brings into our life builds us in our walk with the Lord, if we let Him. Consider Job and what God put Him through. His wealth, animals, and even His children were taken. but still Job 'cursed not with His mouth', but instead trusted God knew that He had a plan. A guess what- He still does! God knows whatever you're going through, and He always has known. I encourage you to put your trust in God and believe that He knows what He is doing, and not only do I encourage you- God does too. Don't ask Him why He allowed the trials; ask what He wants you to learn through them!

LIMITLESS!!!

Recently I bought a new Matthews bow. [Hopefully you will see it in my first deer hunting video!] I had an older Matthews but decided it ...
